For the third consecutive year, CaesarStone has donated materials specified by local designers of the annual Pasadena Showcase House of Design (“Showcase”) for a great cause. Of the several interior designers, dedicating their vision of classic Hollywood movies into various rooms of the home, designer Eileen Atwood of Sierra Custom Kitchens chose to combine two very different CaesarStone surfacess to complete the “Some Like it Hot” kitchen based on the Oscar winning 1959 movie featuring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon and George Raft. |
Eileen preferred CaesarStone’s Absolute Noir (6100), a classic, rich black surface for the perimeter while using Puro (8141) for the island, a unique, high-end, semi-precious stone from our Concetto line.
The 2007 Showcase House is located in Descanso Gardens’; a venerable Boddy House was transformed into a first-time collaboration between the two non-profit organizations – Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts.
Designed by “Architect to the Stars” J.E. Dolena of Beverly Hills, the elegant 22-room Regency style mansion built in 1938 for E. Manchester Boddy, publisher of the Los Angeles Daily News. In 1937, Boddy purchased 160 acres of pristine land and named his estate “Rancho del Descanso,” which means “rest” or “repose” in Spanish. Thanks to Mr. Boddy, founder of Descanso Gardens, these 160 acres of gardens, woodlands and chaparral have been preserved for future generations, and provide the magnificent setting for this year’s Showcase House. |
